Estigen’s tissue microarray instruments allow generation of multiple specimen slides that contain hundreds of individual tissues. Instead of incubating and analyzing samples one slide at a time, tissue microarrays (TMAs) allow you to examine hundreds of samples with just one slide. For example, an immunocytochemical analysis from 600 different tissues can be completed in a day.
Ordered multi-tissue blocks generated with the Estigen manual arrayer were originally termed “tissue microarrays” or tumor tissue arrays. The term tissue array could perhaps be most suitable. Tissue microarrays contain hundreds of specimens per slide for arrays containing relatively large specimens (also called tissue macroarrays) whereas the term “tissue microarray” is descriptive of the arrays made with small, 0.6 mm punches.
